Flags of the World | Argentina

The current flag of Argentina was officially adopted on February 12, 1812.  The flag was designed by Manuel Belgrano, a lawyer and military leader that took part in Argentina's war of independence.

The colors were inspired by the Argentinean cockade (military knot of ribbons).

Talampaya National Park | Argentina

Together with Ischigualasto Provincial Park, Talampaya National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Both inscribed under the name Ischigualasto / Talampaya Natural Parks.

Both parks are located in the northern part of central Argentina. Both offer a collection of wind eroded, whimsical rock formations that decorates this inhospitable region.

Península Valdés | Argentina

The Valdes Peninsula is a peninsula on the Atlantic coast of Argentina. It is home to an important breeding population of the endangered southern right whale as well as important breeding populations of southern elephant seals and southern sea lions.

 

The peninsula is an important nature reserve and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999.

Purmamarca's Hill of Seven Colors | Argentina

Quebrada de Humahuaca is a narrow and arid mountainous valley, located in the province of Jujuy in Argentina. Purmamarca (Purma means desert and Marca means city) is a town located in this valley, at the feet of the Cerro de los Siete Colores: the Hill of Seven Colors. Look at the postcard and you know where it got its name from.

 

Quebrada de Humahuaca is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2003.

Ischigualasto Provincial Park in Argentina

Ischigualasto Provincial Park is located in the north-east of the San Juan Province of Argentina. El Submarino is a number of rocks that look like a submarine when viewed from a certain angle. Since 2000 Ischigualasto is an Unesco World Heritage Site, together with neighboring Talampaya National Park.

Iguazu Falls, Argentina

One of the great natural wonders of the world, the Iguaçu Falls, are situated near the border of Brazil, Paraguay, and Argentina. The area is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The surrounding subtropical rainforest has over 2,000 species of vascular plants and is home to the typical wildlife of the region: tapirs, giant anteaters, howler monkeys, ocelots, jaguars and caymans.

Vicuñas grazing in Puna Catamarqueña, Argentina

Puna Catamarqueña is a desert high plateau at more than 3,000 meters height, located in Catamarca, a province in the Argentine Northwest, about 1.500 km away from the city of Buenos Aires. Its climate is arid and extreme, with less than 200 mm of annual rainfall.

The Vicuña is a wild South American camelid which live in the high alpine areas of the Andes. Vicuñas live exclusively in South America, primarily in the central Andes. They are native to Peru, northwestern Argentina, Bolivia, and northern Chili.

The tango is a partner dance that originated in the 1870s along the Río de la Plata, the natural border between Argentina and Uruguay, and soon spread to the rest of the world.

Tango is a popular dance that has influences from European and African culture. It was originally considered a scandalous dance. But at present it is the representative dance of Argentina around the world.

Los Glaciares National Park, Argentina

Los Glaciares National Park is located in the area known as Austral Andes in Argentina, in the south at the border with Chile. This park shows a scenery of mountains, lakes and woods, including a large portion of the Andes practically under ice and snow.

 

Its name refer to the glaciers that are born on the Ice Caps, the largest continental ice extension after Anctartica.

Los Glaciares National Park  is a Unesco World Heritage site since 1981.

Estancia Santa Catalina, Argentina

Santa Catalina is known for his church, an example of colonial baroque in Argentina, clearly influenced by central European architecture in the same style.

In the ancient lands of the Old Calabalumba, the Society of Jesus purchased four 1500 pesos Estancia Santa Catalina, by that time, comprised some poor buildings and many heads of cattle. The largest of all Jesuit estancias, Santa Catalina was founded in 1622.

Ushuaia is the capital city of Tierra del Fuego Province, Argentina. It is commonly regarded as the southernmost city in the world.

Ushuaia is located in a wide bay on the southern coast of Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego, bounded on the north by the Martial mountain range and on the south by the Beagle Channel.
