Waterfalls in Kuldīga | Latvia


Postcard
Kuldiga is a town on the Venta River in Latvia. The town is famous for having the widest waterfall in Europe (110m): Ventas Rumba.
 
In 1368, Kuldiga became a member of the Hanseatic League of trading cities because of its location as a river port with an outlet to the Baltic Sea.

The capital of the Philippines

Manila is the capital city and the second largest city of the Philippines. On the left you see a Kales, a horse carriage, a popular way of transport for tourists in Manila. Originally introduced in the Philippines in the 18th century by the Spaniards.

A Jeepney is a popular means of public transportation in the Philippines. They are known for their crowded seating and flamboyant decorations.

El Salvador: La Ruta de las Flores

Ruta de las Flores, or the ‘Flower Route’.
The name of this 40km stretch of western El Salvador comes from the plentiful wildflowers that grow along the road.

The route essentially covers a handful of small, attractive colonial towns along around 40km of winding, relatively quiet road. One is the town of Juayúa. On the left you see the Santa Lucia Church. On the right Juayua Waterfalls.

A Postcard from Tunisia: city of Sousse | سوسة


Postcard
Sousse is a city in Tunisia. Located 140 km south of the capital Tunis. Sousse is an important tourist resort.

Stamp
From a set of four stamps with ‘plantes medicinales’: La Verveine odorante (French for Lemon Verbena).

This is a medicinal plant, used especially as a tea against digestive disorders due to nervousness or pressure. It is advisable to use it with caution because it can cause a drop in blood pressure. The verbena is also used to flavor a number of dishes and cakes.

Take me for a carriage ride through The Bahamas

Greetings from Nassau, Bahamas.
Horse drawn surreys (carriage rides) take you to focal points in Nassau.... Government House, Parliament Square, Queen’s Staircase. National Art Gallery, Pompey Museum, Stately Houses & Cathedrals, Straw Market, Festival Place where cruise ships dock and much more.
   
The pink building in the backround is Government House, where the Governor General lives. The statue is of Christopher Columbus who discoverd the New World when he landed on the tiny Bahamian island of San Salvador in 1492.

A Concord Coach sent from Idaho

While the various Abbot and Downing companies were most famous for the Concord Coaches, they did manufacture more than 40 other types of horse drawn vehicles. There is even an “Abbot-Downing Historical Society”.

(left) It’s been 100 years since Ray Harroun won the first Indianapolis 500. The stamp depicts an Art Deco-style painting of Harroun in his car, wheels slightly off the ground, streaks of color giving an illusion of speed. Harroun’s average speed in the race was about 75 m.p.h.

(right) The Project Mercury stamp depicts Shepard, the Mercury capsule Freedom 7, and the Redstone launching rocket.
