Port Zante | St. Kitts & Nevis

St. Kitts is the larger of the two Caribbean islands that comprise the nation of Saint Kitts and Nevis. Basseterre is the capital of Saint Kitts and Nevis.

Port Zante, in the centre of the Basseterre Bay, is for use of docking cruise ships only. The Port can accommodate the largest cruise ships in the world; it also has a marina facility.

Montpelier Plantation | Saint Kitts and Nevis



Postcard
Nevis is located about 350 km east-southeast of Puerto Rico and 80 km west of Antigua. The island has a population of about 11,000. Together with neighbouring island of Saint Kitts it constitutes one country: the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis.

Originally a sugar plantation, today the historic Montpelier Plantation is a Hotel and beach resort.

St. George’s Church in Basseterre | St Kitts & Nevis

Basseterre is the capital of Saint Kitts and Nevis.

In the early stages of the French occupation of Basseterre, a Roman Catholic church was erected in the town by the Jesuits and dedicated to Our Lady.

Notre Dame was burnt to the ground in 1706 during the Anglo-French War by English soldiers who were billeted there. The Church was re-built by 1710 and renamed St. George’s.

Mount Liamuiga | Saint Kitts and Nevis

Mount Liamuiga is a 1,100-meters high stratovolcano which forms the western part of the island of Saint Kitts. The peak is the highest point on the island. The last verified eruptions from the volcano were about 1,800 years ago.

The volcano is located on Saint Kitts island but the card was sent from Nevis. Together with neighbouring island of Saint Kitts constitute one country: the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis. Nevis is located about 350 km east-southeast of Puerto Rico and 80 km west of Antigua. The island has a population of about 11,000.

Volcanic beach on the island of St. Kitts

The seashore formation known as Black Rocks is located on the north side of the island of St Kitts. A remnant of the once active volcano Mt. Liamuiga. This stratovolcano forms the western part of the island. These rocks being formed of the hot lava as it entered the cool Caribbean.

Brimstone Hill Fortress, St Kitts

Saint Kitts is an island in the West Indies (the Caribbean). Saint Kitts and the neighboring island of Nevis constitute one country. The islands are located between the tiny island of Sint Eustatius and Montserrat. The capital of St Kitts is Basseterre and it has a population of 44,000.    

Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is one of the best preserved historical fortifications in the Americas.
