The equestrian statue of Genghis Khan was built in 2008 on the occasion of the eight-hundredth anniversary of the foundation of the Mongolian Empire, in honor of its founder, Genghis Khan.

The largest equestrian statue in the world! The 40 metres high statue stands on a 10-metres high base that is surrounded by 36 columns representing the 36 kings Mongolia experienced during its history.

In 1806, Napoleon ordered the construction of a triumphal arch to glorify the Grand Army, and the first stone was laid on 6 August of the same year.

Today the Arc de Triomphe is one of the most iconic monuments in Paris.

The city of Orange | France

Orange is a french city with a rich history, located about 21 km north of Avignon. In the year 1163 the Holy Roman Emperor Frederick I elevated the city of Orange and the land surrounding it to a sovereign principality within the Empire, an independent enclave within France.

In 1544, William I, count of Nassau, who already had large properties in the Netherlands, inherited the title Prince of Orange. William III of Orange, who ruled England as William III of England, was the last Prince of Orange to rule the principality. In 1713 it was ceded to France under the Treaty of Utrecht.

The Arch Of Remembrance | Australia

The Arch Of Remembrance commemorates Australian servicemen and women who have served in all wars and conflicts. The arch was originally constructed in 1926 to remember the 114 people (of whom 22 died) from the Brighton area who served in WWI, the ‘war to end all wars’.

As we all sadly know, WWI didn’t end all wars and two additional bronze laurel wreaths were added to the front of the Arch following WWII with later additions on either side to remember those who served in or died in Malaya, Korea, Borneo, Vietnam, Malaysia, Gulf War, East Timor, Afghanistan and Gulf War II (2003-2011).

Archaeological Site of Volubilis | Morocco

Volubilis is one of Morocco’s best-preserved Roman ruins. Established before the Christian Era, Volubilis was considered the administrative center of the kingdom of Mauretania and also one of the most remote cities within the Roman Empire.

Archaeological Site of Volubilis is a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1997.

Vientiane, capital of Laos

Vientiane is the capital and largest city of Laos, located on the banks of the Mekong River near the border with Thailand. The city has about 80,000 inhabitants.

Patuxai, meaning Victory Gate or Gate of Triumph, is a war memorial monument in the centre of Vientiane. The arch was built in 1957 and is one of the prominent landmarks in the city.

Banjul, capital city of The Gambia

Banjul is the capital of the Republic of The Gambia. The port city has a population of about 35,000. The city is actually located on Saint Mary's Island in the Gambia River.

The July 22nd Arch is a monument that spans the Independence Drive which is the road that leads into the city.

India Gate, the war memorial in New Delhi | India

The India Gate is a war memorial located in New Delhi, India. The monument is a memorial to the 82,000 soldiers who died in the First World War.

New Delhi is the capital of India. The Delhi metropolitan region has a population of over 22 million.

The Tata family is a family of Indian industrialists and philanthropists who founded iron and steel works, cotton mills and power plants that contributed to India’s industrial development. A prominent member of this family is J.R.D. Tata (1904-1993).

The Arch of Triumph from Tyre, Lebanon

Tyre is is an ancient Phoenician city located on the southern coast of Lebanon, 83 km south of Beirut.  It was an island in ages past, celebrated for its beauty. Tyre emerges today from the debris of centuries. Excavations on the site have uncovered remains of the Crusader, Arab, Byzantine and Graeco-Roman cities.

Porta Macedonia, a triumphal arch in Skopje

The Skopje 2014 project aimed at rebuilding a city that lost many of its landmarks in a 1963 earthquake. The goal is to give the city a more monumental appearance.

The project envisages the construction of almost 20 buildings, including, museums, theatres, concert halls, hotels and administrative offices. Many more bronze and marble statues are also being erected to adorn the surroundings.

Porta Macedonia is a triumphal arch located on Pella Square, building was completed in January 2012. The arch is dedicated to 20 years of Macedonian independence. 

Arc de Triomphe.... from Moldova

Chișinău is the capital and largest city of the Republic Moldova. Built of white stone this triumphal arch is similar in design to Paris’ Arc de Triomphe but much smaller. The triumphal arch was built in 1841 as a gift from the Russian Tsar Nikolai I. It is a symbol of the victory of Russia over Turkey in the war of 1806-1812 and the liberation of the territory between the Dniester and Prut rivers.

The Greeks believed that various aspects of their civilization had their origin in Tyre. The introduction of the alphabet into Greece was attributed to Cadmus of Tyre, and it was Europa, the sister of Cadmus, who gave her name to the continent.
