Centennial Hall | Poland

The Centennial Hall is a historic building in Wrocław, Poland. Built in 1911-1913 by the architect Max Berg as a multi-purpose recreational building. It can accommodate up to 10,000 people.

According to Unesco the Centennial Hall is an outstanding example of early Modernism and the innovative use of reinforced concrete structures in the building industry. Centennial Hall in Wrocław is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Matobo Hills | Zimbabwe

The Matobo Hills in southern Zimbabwe, are home to an outstanding collection of rock paintings, the largest in southern Africa. The large boulders provide abundant natural shelters and have been associated with human occupation from the early Stone Age.

Balancing Rock formations are seen throughout Zimbabwe, als in Matobo National Park. The ons on the postcard is known as known as the Mother and Child.

The Bungle Bungles in Purnululu National Park is famous for its beehive-like hills. But there is more to see in the Bungle Bungles.

One of the other highlights is the Echidna Chasm, a narrow gorge, at some points only two meters wide, but with 200m high vertical walls.

Motor Vessel Ilala | Malawi

Built in 1949, the mv Ilala is a 400 tonne passenger vessel which has traditionally sailed the full length of lake Malawi. The ship is based in Monkey Bay on the southern end of the lake.

She carries both passengers and freight, and calls at major towns on both the Malawian and Mozambican coast, as well as at the two inhabited islands of the lake.

Volcanoes of Costa Rica

Costa Rica is home to a great number of volcanoes — there are six active volcanoes and another 61 dormant or extinct ones. The card pictures Arenal, Poás and Irazú.

For the past 50 years, Arenal was the country’s most active volcano, although it entered into a resting phase in 2010.

The Poás Volcano is another of Costa Rica’s largest and most active volcanoes, its rising up to 2,708 m.

The Irazú Volcano is located in the Central Highlands of Costa Rica. It is the tallest volcano in the country, with a height of 3,432 m.

Old Goa is a historical city in North Goa, India. The city was constructed by the Bijapur Sultanate in the 15th century, and served as capital of Portuguese India from the 16th century until its abandonment in the 18th century due to a plague.

In 1517 eight Portuguese friars landed in Goa and founded the Chapel of St. Francis of Assisi and an adjacent convent for them to reside. In 1661 the building was reconstructed in its present form, with Baroque interiors.

Churches and Convents of Goa is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The necropolis of Bet She’arim | Israel

Beit She'arim is a Roman-era Jewish village (now ruin) that thrived from the 1st-century BCE until its demise in the early 20th century.

Hewed into the limestone slopes of hills bordering the Vale of Jezre’el, a series of man-made catacombs was developed from the 2nd century AD as the necropolis of Bet She’arim.

Flags of the World | Marshall islands

The flag of the Marshall Islands was adopted upon the start of self-government, May 1, 1979.

In 1947 the USA and the UN Security Council signed an agreement putting the "Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands" (most of Micronesia, including the Marshall Islands), under the wing of America.
Thousands of troops and their families were based at the islands. In total 66 nuclear tests were carried out between 1946 and 1958 on Bikini and Enewatak.

After a 1975 referendum, the Trust Territory was split into the separate states of Palau, Federated States of Micronesia, and Republic of the Marshall Islands. In 1979, the Marshall Islands became self-governing.

Roman theatre of Mérida | Spain

The Roman colony of Augusta Emerita (present day Mérida, Spain) was founded in 25 BC by Augustus, the first emperor of the Roman Empire. The city was the capital of the Roman province of Lusitania. The modern city of Mérida has been built on top of Emerita, yet, archaeological remains are well preserved.

Archaeological Ensemble of Mérida is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The 22 component parts of the property comprise an area of 31 ha. One of these components is the Roman Theatre.

The religious and political conflicts of the 17th century that took place in the German states ended with the so called Peace of Westphalia in 1648. Silesian Protestants, supported by Sweden, negotiated the right to establish three new churches.

The Austrian emperor, Ferdinand, allowed to build churches in Glogau (Głogów), Schweidnitz (Świdnica) and Jauer (Jawor). Two of the three churches are still standing today, only the Protestant church in Glogow had burned down in 1758. These churches are the largest timber-framed religious buildings in Europe

- Durbar Squares of Hanuman Dhoka (Kathmandu), Patan and Bhaktapur
- the Buddhist stupas of Swayambhu and Bauddhanath
- and the Hindu temples of Pashupati and Changu Narayan.
