Roman Temple of Évora | Portugal

The Dolomites are a mountain range located in northeastern Italy. The Sesto-Cadini Dolomites are in the far north-eastern part of the Dolomites, featuring spectacular peaks looming more than 2,000 metres above the huge rocky high plateaus. One of the peaks is 2,839m high Cadin di San Lucano.

The Dolomites is a UNESCO World Heritage site. This serial property of nine areas presents a diversity of spectacular landscapes of international significance for geomorphology marked by steeples, pinnacles and rock walls, the site also contains glacial landforms and karst systems.

Located 400km from Chengdu, the capital city of Sichuan, Nuorilang Waterfall is favorably located in the central Jiuzhaigou Vally. At an altitude of 2365 meters, it is one of the biggest Travertine waterfalls in China. With a height of 20 meters and a width of 270 meters, Nuorilang Waterfall is the widest fall in China.

Jiuzhaigou Valley Scenic and Historic Interest Area is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Grimeton Radio Station | Sweden

Grimeton Radio Station, Varberg is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Varberg Radio Station at Grimeton in southern Sweden (built 1922–24) is an exceptionally well-preserved monument to early wireless transatlantic communication. It consists of the transmitter equipment, including the aerial system of six 127-m high steel towers. Although no longer in regular use, the equipment has been maintained in operating condition.

City of Zadar | Croatia

Zadar is the oldest continuously-inhabited Croatian city. It is situated on the Adriatic Sea. Zadar was once the largest city-fortress in the Republic of Venice and its City Walls were an important part of an elaborate defence system.

It was included in UNESCO's World Heritage Site list as part of "Venetian Works of Defence between 15th and 17th centuries: Stato da Terra – western Stato da mar" in 2017. This property consists of 6 components of defence works in Italy, Croatia and Montenegro.

Cathedral of Notre-Dame in Reims | France

Reims Cathedral, built between 1211 and 1275, is where the kings of France were crowned. The cathedral hosted thirty-three sovereign coronations in just over 1000 years!
According to Unesco, the outstanding handling of new architectural techniques in the 13th century, and the harmonious marriage of sculptural decoration with architecture, has made Notre-Dame in Reims one of the masterpieces of Gothic art.

Beirut Harbour in better days | Lebanon

A massive explosion occurred on Tuesday, August 4 in the vicinity of the Beirut Port Complex, wreaking havoc across the city and killing hundreds of people.

The blast is believed to have originated from a chemical storage warehouse where an estimated 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate got ignited. The material has reportedly been confiscated from a ship years ago and stored there, but without proper safety measures.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Lebanese people.

The Struve Geodetic Arc is a chain of survey triangulations stretching from Hammerfest in Norway to the Black Sea, through ten countries and over 2,820 km. This helped to calculate the exact size and shape of the planet and marked an important step in the development of earth sciences and topographic mapping.

Struve Geodetic Arc is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Tartu is one of three of these locations in Estonia.
