Meteora | Greece

The Meteora is a rock formation in central Greece. Six (of an original twenty four) monasteries are built on immense natural pillars and hill-like rounded boulders that dominate the local area.

In a region of almost inaccessible sandstone peaks, monks settled on these 'columns of the sky' from the 11th century onwards.

Meteora is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Cheetahs or Leopards | Tanzania

The most common difference between these two animals is the patterns on their coat. At first glance, it may look like they both have spots, but in fact, a leopard has rosettes. Cheetahs have a solid round or oval spot shape.

Esphigmenou monastery is an Eastern Orthodox monastery in the monastic state of Mount Athos in Greece. The current monastery dates back to the 10th century.

Mount Athos is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Mount Athos is an Orthodox spiritual centre since 1054 located in northeastern Greece. Today, 2,000 monks live an ascetic life in Athos, isolated from the rest of the world.

Kizil Grottoes | China

The Kizil Cave complex is believed to be the earliest major Buddhist cave complex in China, located in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. The development of this cave complex dates back tot the 3rd and 8th centuries A.D. There are 236 known cave temples carved into the cliff from east to west, spanning a length of 2 kilometers.

The grottoes are part of UNESCO World Heritage site Silk Roads: the Routes Network of Chang'an-Tianshan Corridor. The Silk Roads were an interconnected web of routes linking the ancient societies of Asia, the Subcontinent, Central Asia, Western Asia and the Near East, and contributed to the development of many of the world's great civilizations.

The Torre de San Martín is a medieval structure in Teruel, Aragon, northern Spain. Built in Aragonese Mudéjar style in 1316. Mudejar art is a mixture of Islamic traditional style and contemporary European styles, particularly the Gothic.
