Kołobrzeg is a city in north-western Poland with
about 47,000 inhabitants. Kołobrzeg, meaning “near the sea” is located on the Parsęta River
on the south coast of the Baltic Sea. The city’s old German name was
Kolberg.
The city joined the Hanseatic League in 1361. The Hanseatic
League was a commercial and defensive confederation of merchant guilds and
their market towns.
