Flags of the World | Ivory Coast

With hundreds of countries across the globe, it’s not surprising that there is some overlap in color scheme and design. One of the most confusing and similar flags are the Irish flag and Ivory Coast flag. The main difference is the order of the colors green and orange.

The Ivory Coast flag was officially adopted on December 3, 1959, just a few weeks before it became a fully independent country.

Koryaksky volcano | Russia

Koryaksky is an active volcano on the Kamchatka Peninsula in the Russian Far East. The volcanoes of Kamchatka are a large group of volcanoes situated on the Kamchatka Peninsula. The Kamchatka River and the surrounding central side valley are flanked by large volcanic belts containing around 160 volcanoes.

Volcanoes of Kamchatka is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The Tree of Life | Bahrain

The Tree of Life in Bahrain is a Prosopis cineraria tree (Khejri tree) that is over 400 years old. The tree stands on a hill in a barren area of the Arabian Desert, 2 kilometers from Jebel Dukhan, the highest point in Bahrain, and 40 kilometers from Manama, the nearest city.

Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests | China

The Temple of Heaven is an imperial complex of religious buildings situated in the southeastern part of central Beijing. The temple complex was constructed from 1406 to 1420 during the reign of the Yongle Emperor, who was also responsible for the construction of the Forbidden City in Beijing.

The postcard shows the interior of the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests. The building is completely wooden, with no nails. The original building was burned down by a fire caused by lightning in 1889. The current building was re-built several years after the incident.

Temple of Heaven is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Old City of Acre | Israel

Acre (also known as Akko) is a city in the northern part of Israel. A city with a rich history as it is actually one of the oldest cities in the world, continuously inhabited since 4000 years. Here you see a more close-up of Acre.

The remains of the Crusader town, dating from 1104 to 1291, lie almost intact, both above and below today's street level.

Old City of Acre is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Mount Tai | China

Mount Tai (Tai Shan in Chinese) is a mountain of historical and cultural significance located north of the city of Tai'an, in Shandong Province.

Mount Tai is one of the "Five Sacred Mountains of Taoism". It is associated with sunrise, birth, and renewal, and is often regarded the foremost of the five. The temples on its slopes have been a destination for pilgrims for 3,000 years.

St. Pauli Landungsbrücken | Germany

Port of Hamburg is a sea port on the river Elbe in Hamburg, Germany. After Rotterdam, the 2nd busiest port in Europe. St. Pauli Landungsbrücken (lit. landing bridges) were once a landing pier for steam ships and now function as a connector for underground and suburban trains.

The Joggins Fossil Cliffs is a 690 ha palaeontological site along the coast of Nova Scotia, Canada. Joggings have been described as the “coal age Galápagos” due to their wealth of fossils from the Carboniferous period, about 350 to 290 million years ago.
