Aurora Borealis from Alaska

Alaska  is the largest state in the United States by area. It is situated in the northwest extremity of the North American continent, with Canada to the east, the Arctic Ocean to the north, and the Pacific Ocean to the west and south, with Russia further west across the Bering Strait.

Alaska was purchased from the Russian Empire in 1867. The name "Alaska" is derived from the Aleut (Eskimo language) alaxsxaq, meaning "the mainland" .

Aurora Borealis or northern lights. The effect is named after the Roman goddess of dawn, Aurora, and the Greek name for the north wind, Boreas.
