The City of Cuzco is situated in the Peruvian Andes, at 3,400 m above sea level. The city was the capital of the Inca Empire in the 13th century, conquered by the Spanish in the 16th century. Cuzco is home to a variety of well-preserved Inca and Spanish structures.
