On april 4, 2007 Angola celebrated 5 years of peace since the end of the 27-year civil war which devastated the country, claiming countless lives and displacing millions.

The Angolan Civil War was a civil conflict in Angola, beginning in 1975 and continuing, with interludes, until 2002. The war started immediately after Angola became independent from Portugal in November 1975.
