Jamaica is located about 150 kilometers south of Cuba
and 200 kilometers west of Hispaniola, the island harbouring the nation-states
of Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
The flag of Jamaica was first raised on
August 6, 1962, Jamaican Independence Day. A diagonal yellow cross divides the Jamaican
flag into four black and green triangles.
