Saint-Pierre and Miquelon are a small group of islands
in the North Atlantic Ocean, near Canada’s Newfoundland. The archipelago is a
self-governing territorial overseas collectivity of France. The
only place you can see Canada from France!
The islands have quit a turbulent history, ending up
in deportation of the inhabitants in 1794, leaving the islands deserted until
1816. In 2016 SP&M celebrates the returning of inhabitants to the islands
200 years ago. Today
the islands of SP&M have about 6,500 inhabitants.
