Dakar is the capital and largest city
of Senegal. The city is located on the west coast on the Cap-Vert Peninsula
facing the Atlantic Ocean.
The African Renaissance Monument was erected in
December 2010 in honor of the end of slavery and the continent's emergence from
oppressive colonial regimes. Interesting facts: the monument is taller than the Statue of Liberty
and was built by North Korea.
