The Hawaiian archipelago comprises eight major islands, several atolls and numerous smaller islets. The main islands are Hawaii, Maui, O'ahu, Kauai, Molokai, Lanaii, Ni'ihau and Kaho'olawe. The islands are about 1,860 miles from the nearest continent.
