Valletta is the capital of Malta. The city is with a
population of only 7,000 the smallest capital of the European Union. Valletta
was founded in 1565 by the Order of St John as a refuge for injured soldiers
and pilgrims returning from the Crusades.
The city is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
