Bolgar Historical and Archaeological Complex is a UNESCO World Heritage site. This property lies on the shores of the Volga River, south of Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan.Interesting fact is that in 922 Bolgar was visited by a mission from Baghdad after which Bolgar accepted Islam as official religion.
