Upper Caravanserai in Sheki | Azerbaijan
Postcard
Sheki is one of Azerbaijan's most picturesque towns, filled with cobbled streets and medieval architecture.
The Upper caravanserai is a historical monument in Sheki dating back to the 18th century. It was used by merchants to store their goods in cellars, who traded on the first floor, and lived on the second.
Sheki is located at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, bordered by the Caspian Sea and the Caucasus Mountains. It was an important thoroughfare on the Silk Road, the ancient web of trade routes linking East and West.
Historic Centre of Sheki with the Khan’s Palace is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
