The Upper Harz was once an important mining region
in Germany. The major products of its mines were silver, copper, lead, iron and
zinc. The Upper Harz Water Regale is one of the largest and most important
historic mining water management systems in the world.
Together with mines of Rammelsberg and the historic townof Goslar, Upper Harz Water Management System is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
