The Jewel of Hampi | India
Postcard
The chariot was built by King Krishnadevaraya of the Vijayanagara Empire during the 16th century. It is actually a shrine built in the form of a chariot and rests on a platform that is about a feet high. The massive sculpture of Garuda, Lord Vishnu’s escort, once was seated atop the chariot but it is empty at the present date.
Group of Monuments at Hampi is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
