The proboscis monkey or long-nosed monkey is endemic to the southeast Asian island of Borneo. This monkey is found mostly in mangrove forests and on the coastal areas of the island. 

Sea Turtles in Nicaragua

For nearly 6 months out of the year (roughly from July to December), hundreds of thousands of rare sea turtles return to the same beach in which they were born to lay millions of eggs.

There are other places in the world that bear witness to turtle hatching, but Nicaragua is one of only four countries where turtle hatchings occur on such a large scale.

The Golestan Palace (Palace of Flowers) is one of the oldest historic monuments in the city of Tehran, built in the historis walled city. Golestan Palace is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The Shams ol Emareh (Edifice of the Sun) is a structure of the Golestan Palace. The building has two identical towers. The exterior views have multiple arches, intricate tile work and ornate windows.

Sacred City of Kandy | Sri Lanka

Kandy is a mountain city in Sri Lanka. was home to the Sinhalese kings from 1592 to 1815. It is also the site of Sri Dalada Maligawa, also called the Temple of the Tooth, as a special container holds a tooth of the Buddha. Over the years, the relic came to be very important politically; the belief was that the holder of the sacred tooth was the one who would have power over the Buddhist population.

Sacred City of Kandy is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Bas-relief of Bisotun | Iran

Bisotun is located along the ancient trade route linking the Iranian high plateau with Mesopotamia. The principal monument of this archaeological site is the bas-relief and cuneiform inscription ordered by Darius I, The Great, when he rose to the throne of the Persian Empire in 521 BC.

The inscription consits of 1119 lines in three languages and measures 15m high by 25 m wide.

Mount Liamuiga | Saint Kitts and Nevis

Mount Liamuiga is a 1,100-meters high stratovolcano which forms the western part of the island of Saint Kitts. The peak is the highest point on the island. The last verified eruptions from the volcano were about 1,800 years ago.

The volcano is located on Saint Kitts island but the card was sent from Nevis. Together with neighbouring island of Saint Kitts constitute one country: the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis. Nevis is located about 350 km east-southeast of Puerto Rico and 80 km west of Antigua. The island has a population of about 11,000.

The national flag of Grenada was adopted upon independence from the United Kingdom in 1974. You see lots of symbols in this flag. 

The six stars in the red border represent the country's six parishes, with the middle star, encircled by a red disk, representing Carriacou and Petite Martinique (two other main islands of this small archipelago). The other symbol on the left represents a nutmeg, one of the principal crops of Grenada.

The blue circle and stars depict the sky over Rio de Janeiro on the morning of 15 November 1889 - the day the Republic of Brazil was declared. The post office at Ochopee, Florida, is the smallest in the USA. The building, once a tool shed, was converted into the post office after a fire in 1953 destroyed the original Ochopee Post Office.

Wang Wang and Fu Ni | Australia

Adelaide Zoo is home to more than 3000 animals. But two of them are very special: Wang Wang and Fu Ni. Two Giant Pandas, born in Woolong Giant Panda Research Centre, China and moved to Adelaide Zoo in November 2009.

West Norwegian Fjords: Geirangerfjord | Norway

Situated in south-western Norway, Geirangerfjord is part of the west Norwegian fjord landscape. The fjord is among the world’s longest and deepest. The deep blue Geirangerfjord is surrounded by majestic, snow-covered mountain peaks, wild waterfalls and lush, green vegetation. The fjord is one of Norway's most visited tourist sites.

In 2005, Geirangerfjord was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, together with Nærøyfjord, located 120 km from one another.

Canal ring of Amsterdam | Netherlands

Postcard

Amsterdam is the most watery city in the world. Its canals and harbours fill a quarter of the city’s surface. The city has more than hundred kilometres of canals, about 90 islands and 1,500 bridges. A great way to discover the “Venice of the North" is floating down the canals by boat.

In 2010 the canal ring area was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Cathedral de León | Nicaragua

León is the second largest city in Nicaragua, after capital Managua. The city is named after the Spanish city of León. Its most famous building is the Cathedral of León, the largest cathedral in Central America. The Cathedral of León is on the list of Unesco World Heritage sites.

Montserrat is a British Overseas Territory located in the Caribbean. Soufrière Hills Volcano began to erupt in 1995, for the first time since the 17th century.

The lava flows and ash falls forced two-thirds of the island's population to flee. Today the island has about 4,500 inhabitants.

Rosevelt Piek or Mamabobiberg | Suriname

Rosevelt Piek is a 451 m high mountain peak in Suriname. The mountain is named Mamabobiberg in Suriname language. Mama = mama, bobo=breast and berg means mountain.
