Djibouti is a country located in the Horn of Africa. It is bordered by Eritrea to the north, Ethiopia to the west and south, and Somalia to the southeast.

The capital and largest city is Djibouti City. The city has a population of around 562,000, which counts for over 70% of the country's population.

Lake Assal | Djibouti

Lake Assal is a crater lake in central Djibouti. The salinity level of its waters is 10 times that of the sea, making it on of the most saline in the world. No outflow occurs from the lake, and due to high evaporation the lake is extremely saline.

Le Lac Assal is on the tentative list of UNESCO World Heritage sites.

Union Nationale des Femmes de Djibouti (UNFD) was created in 1977. UNFD works for the empowerment of women and the protection of maternal and child health. UNFD also works to end poverty, illiteracy and all forms of discrimination against women.
